CORE Martial Arts and Fitness supports pilates as a group fitness class to help with proper alignment for the martial arts students as well as their parents, friends, family members and co-workers.

Pilates is for all ages and body types with a series of total body exercises using one’s own body weight. This type of exercise is done on the floor or standing with emphasis on core stabilizing formations and focus on each muscle group individually and in coordination with other muscles.

Pilates teaches the proper form and function for basic movements done throughout a day. Once the fundamentals of movement are learned the student can then practice more advanced movements to better strengthen and tone their body.

A person with proper posture and alignment is much less likely to become injured, and more likely to live an active, safe lifestyle.

Some benefits of pilates are as follows;

  • Leaner longer muscles
  • Improved core strength and stability
  • Injury prevention
  • Relief from stress and back pain
  • Improved flexibility
  • Improved coordination
  • Better posture
  • Enhanced athletic performance
  • Heightened mind-body awareness
